Evolving a Classic VisionOur client wanted to infuse a traditional majlis with Eva’s distinct flair for blending bold and balanced colour schemes. The vision was for a space that embraced the classic elegance while feeling light and contemporary, unburdened by the heaviness of past conventions.
The existing structure was defined by a traditional early GCC aesthetic, prominently featuring classic design elements and an abundance of individual armchairs. In our redesign, we’ve incorporated historical references from European and French styles to refine and elevate the interior. This thoughtful integration allows for a seamless blend of Arabic architectural traditions with European classical influences, resulting in a more cohesive and sophisticated environment.
Inspired by Iconic Luxury
The design has been tailored to fit within the existing structure, drawing inspiration from the refined classic style of opulent environments like George V and the Ritz Paris, known for their luxury and elegance, aligning with our client’s preferences. Elements incorporated include high ceilings and fine cast mouldings while modernising the amenities. This approach ensures the space is not only visually impressive but also functional, and suitable for both family gatherings and formal social events.
The furniture layout has been planned around emphasising symmetry and balance, highlighting the classic aesthetic with modern functionality. The strategic placement of two-seater sofas and armchairs avoids the bulk of larger seating arrangements, ensuring an elegant yet practical setting for hospitality.
Commitment to Excellence
The furniture speaks volumes about the intersection of tradition and luxury, customised in Italy. Each piece, from the Louis XVI carved armchairs to plush sofas, draped in fabrics that showcase classic damask patterns and rich textures. Details such as the fringes, intricate embroidery, and regal hues of blue and yellow reflect a commitment to maintaining a classical yet fresh interior ambiance.
Artisanal Gypsum Craftsmanship
A Neoclassic approach was taken rather than a Rococo one, to align with the client’s preference against overly complicated panels. These elements complement the grandeur of the Baccarat chandeliers and ceiling works.
In the styling of this project, particular attention was given to selecting exquisite accessories that not only complement the design but also highlight its luxury. Key pieces include a limited-edition Lladró horse, this piece, alongside other carefully chosen elements from prestigious brands and collections such as the likes of Christofle, Bernardaud, Baccarat, and Lladró to enhance the overall aesthetic, lending an air of distinguished elegance and unique character to this classic majlis.
